Summary
Role summary
Financial Accounting and Reporting G7s are expected to manage the production process of the relevant parts of the ARA & Estimates. They will offer accounting advice and work with finance colleagues and auditors to agree accounting treatments. They will review accounting papers and ensure robust processes are in place to give assurance on the quality of the numbers.
Typical Role Responsibilities
Financial Accounting and Reporting G7s are expected to manage the production process of the relevant parts of the ARA & Estimates. They will offer accounting advice and work with finance colleagues and auditors to agree accounting treatments. They will review accounting papers and ensure robust processes are in place to give assurance on the quality of the numbers

Only suitable for staff with the required skills and/or experience from within finance
Typical Qualifications
Essential:
- Qualified with CCAB, CIMA or equivalent
- Working towards qualification
- Financial experience over an extended period of time
Responsibilities
Tasks
Managing the production, including appropriate management review and escalation where necessary, of;
- The annual report and accounts, including the narrative sections of the document, as well as the financial statements;
- The Whole of Government Accounts (WGA) submission the HM Treasury
- The main and supplementary estimates
Acting as a subject expert, providing technical accounting advice in line with IFRS and the financial reporting manual (FReM) and other relevant Government guidance documents
Analysing current processes to identify and implement ways to improve processes and financial control
Liaising with external audit over the audit period to ensure smooth progression of the ARA to meet the laying timetable

This role is not suitable for non-finance professionals or individuals without significant finance experience.
Progression Routes
Staff in this role typically move into other G7 roles in Finance or progress to a Financial Accounting and Reporting G6 or wider finance G6 roles.
